Cheers to 2024!

Happy New Year, All!

2023 was the first year I ever tracked hobby goals and I can’t recommend the process enough. Not only did it help me stay focused to complete high priority projects, but having a checklist of sorts became a little intoxicating. Seeing tasks getting that strike-thru of completion gave me a real sense of progress. For the first time, it felt like real work was getting done. There’s light at the end of this tunnel! In fact, crossing through projects was motivating enough to see me completing far more than I anticipated.

So, let’s do it again!

Here’s what’s on the dock for 2024:

  • Battletech Mercenary Lance
  • Battletech UrbanMech Lance
  • Ronin Sohei Buntai
  • Ronin Koryu Buntai
  • Ronin Mythological Creatures
  • Ronin Hired Swords
  • Ronin Terrain
  • Xenos Rampant – Punks on Foot
  • Xenos Rampant – Rockers on Foot
  • Xenos Rampant Terrain
  • Gaslands Wreck Markers
  • Blood Bowl Vampires
  • Blood Bowl Gutter Bowl Terrain
  • Blood Bowl Skaven
  • Dragon Rampant Dark Age Welsh
  • Dragon Rampant Dark Age Undead
  • Dragon Rampant Dark Age Terrain
  • Article 1 Published
  • Article 2 Published

Stretch Goals for 2024 so far are:

  • Torch and Shield – Dwarf warband
  • Rangers of Shadowdeep – Rangers and Companions
  • Rangers of Shadowdeep – Creatures
  • Rangers of Shadowdeep – Terrain
  • Xenos Rampant Train
  • Gaslands Tanks
  • Blood Bowl Snotlings
  • Blood Bowl Lizardmen
  • Necromunda Eschers
  • En Garde Warband
  • En Garde Creatures

The workload on this list doesn’t look as heavy as 2023’s, but some of these have quite a few models. Like, “Dragon Rampant Dark Age Welsh” could be 50 models or more. Easily. Also, I’m going in on terrain a lot more this year. Last year, I just did that little Ronin Mountain Village. This year, I’d like to expand on that Mountain Village, but also do a Dark Ages Beehive Village, a Shanty Village for Roswell ’98, as well as Gutter Bowl Market and Sewers.

Overall, 2024 does feel like a heavier lift. It’s also going to have the added weight of being the last year I push through projects like this. After 2024, I’m not starting up any thing new that’s gonna require new teams/warbands/armies/terrain/etc. No more projects. No more queue. Just the odd single model or terrain piece here or there. Anything that doesn’t get completed in 2024 (from either above list) is going to get sold off or binned…unless there’s some extraordinary reason not to.

I turn 50 on the last day of 2024 and in my second leg I think I’m ready to focus on playing games, developing scenarios, and exploring new hobbies. It’ll be time to put the brushes into semi-retirement.

Thanks for continuing to follow this little blog. Here’s hoping everyone has a healthy and productive 2024!
