One of the things I appreciate about games like Dracula’s America is the inclusion of North American creatures (or cryptids as some may consider them). I have a single posse for that game, but I don’t have a table or group for it, so haven’t gone all in on the creatures. With my Roswell Post Apocalyptic setting, I do have players and terrain. So, looking over a list of Southwestern cryptids and what’s suitable for 1/72, I landed on Skinwalkers, a Thunderbird, and a Pale Rider.

The two skinwalkers are 20mm werewolves from Elheim. The Thunderbird is a Storm Crow from the “The Curse of Dead Man’s Hand”, a 28mm line, but the model works for this scale too as a little bit larger creature which I think fits. The Pale Rider is a plastic dirt bike included in Northstar’s Implements of Carnage 2 frame for Gaslands. I added some greenstuff to try and give it a ghostly like ectoplasm/flame, but I dunno… it looks more like he has a fin. oof.

Incorporating these into my existing gangs, I’d probably drop them into the above set. Those models have the most Southwester/Native American look of my collection. Above would be a 24 point Xenos Rampant faction. Something like:
* Gunhands (x2) – Light Infantry
* Thundermachine – Soft Shell Vehicle with All Terrain and Improvised Armour
* Skinwolves – RMU Lesser Xenos with swarm and high powered blades
* Pale Rider – Soft Shell Vehicle with Skimmer
* Thunderbird – SMU Greater Xenos with Flying and Exploder

Above would be all my available models for the faction across Gaslands and Xenos Rampant. Of course, I could just use the cryptids as NPC type creatures in Gaslands or XR scenarios as well. Either way, I think they’ll add more flavor to either game.
A finned fishman on a motorcycle is still pretty cool

This is definitely the correct answer!

Ha!
Fortunately, as usual, he looks great at arm’s length either way.

Very nice. I’d reckon these oddities as a better fit for NPCs or other story elements for your games rather than putting them into existing crews. That lets you get a bit weird with their rules too.

They do seem a little odd to be in a faction with humans, but sometimes I just wanna see my painted models on the table, so, yeah, I’ll probably end up doing both. 😉
