Dungeon Bowl: The Doorways

Short post here. As I’ve done with Blitz Bowl pitches, I’ve decided to dress up my DungeonBowl dungeon with some 3d dressings. Well, I’ve previously done the portals and chests, but those came with the game, I’m referring to a few extra bits starting with the doorways.

DungeonBowl uses tiles that are patterned after the original 1990s Warhammer Quest tiles. At one point I owned, and painted, up that classic, but that was a time long ago. I figure with the tiles being similar, I can pull in some of the old WHQ Citadel plastics to continue the homage. These four are plastic doorways from WHQ that I tracked down (one being a donation from James. Thanks, James!).

II was able to land a set of the Citadel Dungeon Denizens box which contains some of the original WHQ plastic critters: snotlings, spiders, bats, rats, and a minotaur. I have four doorways and besides the minotaur, there are four denizen types here. This is perfect for my needs.

I don’t ever plan on going beyond four players in a DB match. A player would select one of these four doorways to be used as the connector between the endzone spaces and the first tile beyond. The four WHQ denizen types are represented. Though I no longer have a box full of WHQ plastic to adventure in, I’ve got these four doorways to tie in the classic dungeon delving with a modern, heavily played title.

  1. A true Blood Bowl fan would track down enough archways to have every title connected with one 😂

Great paint job Jeff, love the little additions!

    • Thanks! I do have another bit of classic Warhammer Quest I’ll be adding to this project soon. But yeah, the whole drive behind my Roswell ’98 project is an avenue to use classic Citadel miniatures from my youth.
