Under the Brush: Cleavedhead Barrows pt 4 for Tale of Tuesdays

ClevelandBrownsElf

Hard to believe that this project is still a work in progress.  After decreeing that it would be completed by the end of 2017 it is still trucking along.  In all fairness I had to move and leave the country for a bit which made painting impossible for a good chunk of time.  Upon my return I’ve been in an out of school and my work tempo has been through the roof.  Still, I try to work on the project when time allows and keeping with the Tale of Tuesdays Blood Bowl challenge, I thought I would provide an update of my progress. Under the Brush: Wood Elves for Tale of Tuesdays

img_20190721_230326

The day after I wrote my unboxing for the new Games Workshop Atherlorn Avengers kit, I started painting some minis for the Blood Bowl painting challenge put on by Tale of Painters. If you’ve seen my post on the Blood Bowl Community over on Facebook, I’ve been playing around a lot with Photoshop trying to nail down my team colors. While my Arsenal and Codillion Clarions color schemes got lots of likes, in the end I decided to go with a Celtic inspired theme. I felt this was both sporty and fit with the nature aesthetic I felt most wood elf teams would go for. Continue reading

Blood Bowl Athelorn Avengers Unboxing

Something is about to happen which has not happened for an age … a WS&TZ unboxing! Yesterday I picked up the new Blood Bowl wood elves release, the Athelorn Avengers and thought I’d do a little unboxing for you all.

This is Armored Combat

Recently, Catalyst Games released two new introductory box-sets for the battle-hardened BattleTech line. Despite gaming longer than BattleTech’s 35 years in existence, I’ve never actually gamed anything in this IP. Not even the ever popular video-games. But here I am…in my mid-40s and it looks like I’m becoming a Mechwarrior.

New Citadel Metallics

img_20190621_222632

In all the hubbub about the new Contrast paints, some new colors added to the classic Citadel range have kind of been forgotten about. Some of these are colors that used to be part of the Forge World paint range but have been brought into the Citadel fold. I picked up two (Grey Knight Steel and Iron Warriors) and gave them a shot. The Shade-Crazed Gargant

Collector’s of White Dwarf were treated to a Warhammer: Underworlds variant in the magazine’s December 2018 issue. The Glass-Mad Gargant article introduced a fun multi-player scenario where the players battle not only against one another, but against a crazed denizen of the Mirrored City. I generally try to always ‘play it painted’, so haven’t run the scenario until I could get myself a Gargant. Well, now I have a giant…

Under the Brush: Heirs of Gondolin

Battle Companies 2.0 for the Middle-earth Strategy Game has been out for several weeks now and I’ve already tested it out with my buddy over a couple of games. Since then, in a preparation for a map-based game with a local group, I’ve painted up my starter battle company. I’ll be playing Rivendell, as that’s my main army so far. I present to you, the Heirs of Gondolin! Continue reading

Under the Brush: Gulavhar, Terror of Arnor

gulavhar1

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve started an Angmar force for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. There’s a profile that has intrigued me in the Angmar army list for a while and now it has received a big boost in the new edition. And that would be Gulavhar, Terror of Arnor! Continue reading

Under the Brush: Return to Rivendell and new projects

It’s been a long time since my last hobby update. I haven’t painted up too much since I completed my Underworld Denizens team for Blood Bowl, up until the past two weeks. So let’s start off with the most recent. This weekend I finally finished my Cirdan for my Rivendell force, despite having started him … wow, almost a year ago! I picked up a color from a different line of inks, Amsterdam Acrylic Inks to finish off Cirdan’s robes. I wanted the robes to be a light grey, but repeated coats of Nuln Oil weren’t getting there for me, which is why kind of got abandoned.
