Warhammer Shadespire – Converting the Warbands

I read it once that “Faces and Bases make minis look Aces”. I believe this is certainly true. A decent base can ground the model and give it that finished polish. The eye is naturally drawn to a model’s head and anything off there is the first thing noticed…and it’s easy to go wrong. Luckily for me then, I have a long history of favoring characters with covered faces.

Warhammer Shadespire – Terrain

With Games Workshop’s recently release of their competitive arena battle game, Shadespire, many players have looked for ideas on how to add a bit of flair to their adventures in the Mirrored City. We still have a large back catalog of proper minis to paint, so in the meantime, we’ve opted to go back about 15 years for a product that fits our current gaming needs.

Gore Ball Ogre Team Unboxing

A few months ago, I wrote about a Kickstarter campaign that had caught my eye. The campaign was run by Word Forge Games, and it was for an Ogre team for their game, Gore Ball. At the time I was unfamiliar with Word Forge Games and Gore Ball, but I really liked their Ogre minis as their aesthetic fit in with the new Games Workshop Blood Bowl Ogre almost perfectly. After my initial post about the Kickstarter campaign I reached out to Word Forge Games and they very graciously agreed to send me a copy of the Ogre team for review. Now, several months later, a box from the UK has shown up at my door, and it’s time for another unboxing!

Under the Brush: Delaque Minis Ready for the Table

James often claims that he is the world’s slowest mini painter, but I think I might have him beat… only because it takes me months to get the motivation to finish painting minis, even if I am writing a series of posts about painting minis to try and keep myself motivated… I all seriousness, with the surgery that I had a few weeks ago, it was hard to concentrate on much else in the weeks leading up to it, so I really didn’t get much of anything hobby or site related done during that period of time. Now that my recovery is well underway, I was able to finally get some painting time in, and I was able to actually finish my Delaque gang.

Warhammer Quest – Blood Bowl Star Player

Warhammer Quest Silver Tower is the game that launched my current Age of Sigmar obsession, and at some point I’ll jot down all the reasons Age of Sigmar is deserving of your hobby time. For now, I’m sharing another home-made hero.

Sneak Peek: Gore Ball Ogre

goreball

Not too long ago we mentioned the Kickstarter launch of the Gore Ball Ogre team on the site.  The Kickstater from Word Forge Games offered up a rather impressive collection of single piece resin cast models and as the campaign progressed it grew to include a large variety of greenskins too.  I was impressed with the designs of the ogres offering a variety of different poses and looks, but having already a full ogre team on standby I couldn’t pull the trigger on the full set.  Yet the allure of the new was too much, and I could not resist the hockey mask look and went ahead and ordered one.  Now Mike is working on a full review of the entire set, but as he’s recovering from the installation of his cyber-leg I’m given a chance to offer my quick opinion of my newest recruit.
