Due to the Games Workshop’s change from resin teams to plastic, it might still be a little while before the Elf Union team hits shelves. Luckily, in the meantime, we’re still getting fairly regular releases for Blood Bowl. Recently Forge World put the Chaos Renegades Coins & Tokens set and the rookie Minotaur up for pre-order, and today, a box from the UK showed up in my mailbox!

A Tale of Tables
There’s one thing that every tabletop gamer would love as a gift, a fancy gaming table. It’s not usually something you’d probably think is attainable, but every once in a while, the gaming gods will smile on you. That’s what I thought had happened last Christmas, but it was just the start of a much bigger experience.
My roommate, Scott, and I host Both Down, a Blood Bowl podcast. We’ve been friends for a long time and after his divorce, I ended up moving in. Since then we’ve played many games of Blood Bowl as well as many, many, many other games on his rickety dining table. It was never horrible, but more than once, the discussion popped up about how a new/better table would be more conducive to better playing experiences.
Under the Brush: My first painted warband
This is a post long overdue, the story of my first-ever completely painted warband of miniatures. I can count on one hand (technically two) the number of minis I’d painted before undertaking this endeavor: Two D&D miniatures when I was about 11 years old, and one of the plastic space marines from the 40k 2nd edition starter set. The other hand for the “technically two hands” are four of the OOP plastic Warhammer Fantasy militia I had built for Mordheim to get a feel for my painting technique.
Crowd Funding Round Up: September 2017
Since it was re-released last November, by all reports Blood Bowl has been selling very well for Games Workshop. Since Blood Bowl 2016 was announced, many people have voiced concerns that Games Workshop re-releasing the game would put many third party mini companies out of business. It would seem that those fears were unfounded, because new crowdfunding campaigns seem to pop up on an almost weekly basis. With so many new campaigns starting all the time, I thought it would be a good idea to start a running series with a monthly collection of current Blood Bowl related crowdfunding campaigns. I won’t go into as much detail in these round up pieces as I do when I write about a specific campaign that I am excited about, but I will write enough to keep readers as up to date on current campaigns as I can. September brings us no fewer than five crowdfunding campaigns, so let’s take a look at what all is available this month!
Under the Brush: In the prime of their lives
Not much to say, gave my Chaos Renegade team a Zenithal prime tonight. In my previous painting with Zenithal prime I just did black and white sprays, tonight I added a gray spray in between. Fascinating I know. More pics after the break.
The Norse Are Here!
Want to play a Norse team in your local Blood Bowl league, but can’t find any Norse miniatures made by Games Workshop? No problem! Hungry Troll Miniatures ran a Kickstarter campaign back in April for a new Norse team (as well as two other teams!) and the miniatures have just landed at my front door!
Off the Beaten Pitch: Vortice Undead/Necro Team Review
Over the years my collection of Blood Bowl teams has waxed and waned in direct correlation to my time available to game and my economic standing. Despite the fluctuations the one team I never pulled the trigger on was the Undead team. I’ve always liked the idea of an Undead team ever since I read about the Champions of Death and their coach Tomolandry the Undying. Despite the interest in the team I was never truly satisfied with the team options out there. GWs Undead had good components but the Zombies where weakly done and I also felt like the Ghouls looked like they were in need of a sports bra. What I longed for was an Undead team that had a consistent sports team look that still offered great details and a lot of character.
A Tale of Blood Bowl, Frogs, and a Guy Named J_Bone
Once upon a time, there was a guy on the interwebs named J_Bone. J_Bone liked a website called Talk Fantasy Football. One day, he had an idea to produce a line of miniatures for an under-served Blood Bowl team… Slann. The Slann team was added to the game post 3rd through 5th edition, after Games Workshop had stopped supporting the game. As a result, there were never any official Slann Blood Bowl minis. Over the years, a couple of third party companies released some nice Slann teams, but J_Bone decided he wanted a team sculpted by one of the best independent sculptors on the Blood Bowl scene, Pedro Ramos.
Willy Miniatures Ratmen Unboxing
Our friends over at Willy Miniatures kindly sent us over a copy of their recent Kickstarter success, the Ratmen Team. It arrived all the way from Spain last Saturday and it has taken me all week to assemble, photograph and write up this review because there is a LOT inside this box. Let’s get on with it.
Under the Brush: Ep 4
Well, it’s been 5 day since the last episode of Under the Brush, and despite my wrist being stubborn and not wanting to heal, I managed to get a little done this week.
