GAMAReveals-Mar11-BBHalflingsMinis5scfThe GAMA trade show has finally brought us some much anticipated Blood Bowl news, and boy was it a surprise to some!  Speculation had run the gambit on the next team to see the light of day and personally I will admit that I was surprised.  The crew of WSTZ discusses the design of the new diminutive team and Jeff works his wizardry to translate this team onto the Blitz Bowl circuit!

Homemade Star Players: Harry Badsaw

Greenskins_Wurrzag

I haven’t regularly used Star Players in league or tournament play in a very long time.  Back in the original 3rd edition rules Star Players where much cheaper than they currently are so it was quite common to see them in play.  When I attended the first Blood Bowl Tournament at GW Nottingham it was a staple to see all the big names on just about every team at the tournament.  In fact my Chaos Dwarf team rocked Hthark The Unstoppable through it’s first several tournaments.  I’m pretty sure every Undead team I played against had Count Luthor and every human team had Griff.  They were so cheap it would have been ridiculous not to use them.  A few iterations of rules later and taking those guys now is a huge commitment so its rare to see such big names on the field.  Some tournaments though have adopted homemade heroes which has given me the opportunity to create some of my own Blood Bowl Stars.  Continue reading

Off the Beaten Pitch: Goblin Guild’s Grim Butchers Chaos Dwarf Team Unboxing and Review

butcher1

If you recall, I mentioned how rough the summer was on my wallet when it came to the amount of new Blood Bowl teams that 3rd-party manufacturers were producing.  In total I added another seven teams through Kickstarter last year and the rewards of that folly adventure have begun to trickle in.  The first to arrive only slightly behind schedule is a new take on the men with hats, the Grim Butchers from Goblin Guild.

Off the Beaten Pitch: Fanath Chaos Chosen Team Review

Fanath Chaos Choen Team

I’ve been aware of Fanath Arts for some time in the 3rd party Blood Bowl market.  While I had looked before at picking up their High Elf team I never pulled the trigger on it.  It was a decent design but it didn’t capture my full attention.  Well times have changed!  When Fanath offered a Chaos Chosen team on Indiegogo this past summer it grabbed my attention despite having just recently purchased a Chosen team months before.  So what was it that made me spend money on a second team of the same variety?

Kickstarter Round Up: The month of May assaults my wallet, leaves no prisoners!

Kickstarter-featured_image

Being stuck overseas and in austere environments means I am not able to accomplish much hobby work.  Thankfully though, the internet enables me to stay connected to all the nice new minis in the works and the generous tax break of being in a combat zone means I’ve got plenty of greenbacks piling up.  What better outlet to unclutter my wallet than a stroll through the Fantasy Football market on Kickstarter.  Two projects have jumped out and waylaid my savings, promising me piles of models to rummage through when I finally come home. Warhammer Fest Round-up: Blood Bowl

Happy Warhammer Fest weekend everyone! And happy Mothers’ Day to all you moms in the US! Unfortunately living in the US I couldn’t make it to Warhammer Fest (sigh … maybe some day) but it was exciting to wake up this morning and check my social media feeds for updates from the big Games Workshop convention. It felt like being a kid on Christmas morning again! Except with news instead of presents. About stuff I’ll have to spend my own money on instead of gifts from Santa. Enough chit chat, let’s get to the good stuff, Wyrd Stones & Tackle Zones favorite game: Blood Bowl!

The first big reveal, the next team! We just had the Chaos Chosen Doom Lords the other week so I’ll admit I was surprised to see the next team completely revealed and it’s none other than the wicked dark elves!

The case of the perfect case

20180203_180156.jpg

Check out that lovely chair our neighbor gave us! We have a very trendy interior design style, it’s called “free chic.”

I’ve been trying to figure out the case situation for my minis for a little while now. I’ve been using the deluxe box of the Willy Miniatures Ratmen Team that I unboxed a few months back to get my Blood Bowl stuff around to my league games. And it’s been fine. But I’ve also recently gotten into the Hobbit Strategy Battle Game which requires quite a few more models than Blood Bowl. Not hundreds of models, but dozens. So I need a solution for that too, as well as my BB team.
