White Dwarf Leak: New boards for Shadespire

FB_IMG_1530158518553

A member of the Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire group on Facebook got his White Dwarf early in the mail and posted this interesting shot of upcoming Shadespire products. We already knew the leader cards pack was coming, but new boards!? The description says the Shattered City Board Pack is “filled with innumerable dangers, from bottomless pits to hidden blades.” The full rules will be included with each board set. It will be interesting to see how players tailor their decks to these new threats on the board.

I took the liberty of cropping in on the boards and blowing the images up a little. Looks like one board has some orbs of glowing light, the other a flaming brazier and some pits?

Also coming are some card sleeves, generic for any warband and includes sleeves for power and objective cards. I’m guessing those have different art on the back. Can’t wait to hear more about these new boards.

Middle-earth project manager Adam Troke joined host Ceri this week on Warhammer Live to chat about what’s going on in Middle-earth and play some Strategy Battle Game. Not everyone has a Twitch subscription or can tune in to the live stream, so we’re here to fill you in.

Under the Brush: Underworld Denizens

It’s hobby update time! I just realized I hadn’t shared anything about what I’m working on for our June Turn It Up to 11 miniatures painting challenge. Eleven miniatures that need to be painted … that coincidentally aligns with the starting roster for a Blood Bowl team. And it just so happens I’m starting up a new team for our league’s summer season. Some guys in the league were talking about playing goblins and vampires, so I decided to step off the beaten path and go for something a little different for me. Underworld denizens!

What’s this? GW Dark Elves spotted in the wild

I’m not sure how this guy received the new Dark Elf Blood Bowl team from Games Workshop, but he’s got an unboxing up on YouTube. It’s in French, so I don’t know exactly what he’s saying put he shows the sprues and built minis for the 3x linemen, runner, blitzer and witch elf. He shows a Necromunda Van Saar box at the beginning of the video, maybe he’s trying to say he bought a Van Saar gang and the Dark Elves were inside? Perhaps he received a review copy but broke the street date?

Feel free to check it out, I’d like to note this is not an official Wyrd Stones & Tackle Zones unboxing and the work is not our own.

Under the Brush: Rethinking some Rivendell conversions

20180602_223637

Last week a package arrived for me full of minis goodness. Ignoring the Spike! Journal, White Dwarfs (White Dwarves) and Shadespire stuff (not completely though, it’s a great game you should try out) you’ll notice Glorfindel and a box of Knights of Rivendell. Finally I have all the parts I need for all the options of a high elves force for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. Now I just need to put it all together (and paint it) but it has me rethinking my plans a little.

Warhammer Underworlds: Paint it Black

I recently painted the Shadespire Stormcast warband for Mike. He wanted black as a primary color but with plenty of gold trim. Traditionally, I’ve struggled a bit with black, often highlighting with grey or dark blue which cause my models to appear…grey or dark blue. These three models were the start of another chance of getting black down because a black based Blood Bowl team looms on my horizon.

Off the Beaten Pitch: Fanath Chaos Chosen Team Review

Fanath Chaos Choen Team

I’ve been aware of Fanath Arts for some time in the 3rd party Blood Bowl market.  While I had looked before at picking up their High Elf team I never pulled the trigger on it.  It was a decent design but it didn’t capture my full attention.  Well times have changed!  When Fanath offered a Chaos Chosen team on Indiegogo this past summer it grabbed my attention despite having just recently purchased a Chosen team months before.  So what was it that made me spend money on a second team of the same variety?
