This larger piece turned out a little better after some lessons learned on those other buildings. Mainly…don’t add a graffiti transfer over paper… for now anyway. Ha! Working on Post Apoc models for my Roswell ’98 project, has lent itself to being a large stepping stone to Xenos Rampant (XR) Detachments. This week, I painted up a handful of models that flexed what where Gaslands Scenario creatures and obstacles into their own Xenos Rampant Detachments.

Another wave of Covid has rippled through the house, so figured it was time to jump on that second Dragon Rampant warband. I expected this one to take two days as well, but it took a little under four hours so went ahead and put paint to an Elheim warlock figure as well.

The last gang to cruise the wasted waves of Roswell are The Scientists. I went back and forth the most with this gang on what I could do to have them ride apart from the others. Originally, I was going to go with trucks and hitches to haul UFO artifacts. It ended up looking a little too much like a gang of bootleggers or something. When it dawned on me that a van was a vehicle I hadn’t used yet, the gang materialized.

My son and friends saw my car collection and want to try some Gaslands soon, so I’m going to shift gears and wrap up the vehicles for a few more gangs, then go back to the foot models. In the early part of 2021, I went on a bit of a ninja kick. I re-immersed myself in Cannon Film’s 80s Ninja movies and played through all three of the Genesis Shinobi series titles. As a child of the 80s, ninja had a hold on the media I consumed: GI Joe, NES Ninja Gaiden, TMNT, American Ninja, SNES Ninja Warriors, etc., so I guess it was a bit of a nostalgic venture. With Roswell ’98 being a creative outlet for these sort of genre tales that inspire me, it was only a matter of time before ninja would step out of the shadows.

Summertime was supposed to net me plenty of time to get some hobby projects done. It wound up being a season of shuffling the kids from event to event. As the season winds down, I was able to squeak out the Zona Alfa models for my third gang in the badlands, the Thrill Hunters.
