Nuffle Amorical Football: Zhufbar Gromriliers Part 1

IMG_2858was

Next team up on the painting block is my dwarf team. Continuing my trend of NFL themed teams, it’s on to the Games Workshop dwarf team. Pittsburg’s historic history of the steel industry is a great fit for a dwarven team, as is their history of punishing defenses and a strong running game. Thanks to Casey for whipping up the team logo for me!  In case you don’t know, Gromril is the Warhammer metal that is prized by all for making of armor and weapons.  I went with the city of Zhufbar as it was renowned for its metal working, and it fit perfectly with the theme. The first major question was to determine the paint scheme. Continue reading

Blood Bowl Building Frenzy

IMG_2099

I’ve never had enough spare time to get my projects complete, so when I got the opportunity to ‘work’ from home I took full advantage of the situation to up my productivity to an eleven.  Blood Bowl is my prime mistress, and I have plenty of projects that have yet to start or have labored at an incomplete status for years.  With my NFL themed Blood Bowl teams still barely started I decided to try and get one division completed.  With my Browns themed Undead team almost done, it was time to get Steelers and Bengals teams going.  Continue reading

Nuffle Amorical Football: The Miasma of Debauchery Part 2

IMG_0739

With the color scheme decided, it was time to get this team up and running.  I decided to go with the typical plan of working through lineman, specialty players, and finish up with stars and staff.  I understand the usefulness of batch-painting, but I have a hard time spreading myself over more than five to six models at a time.  I get excited when a model goes from the ugly patchy phase of having base coats to the when it starts coming together, and batch painting large groups keeps models in that ugly phase for a long time.  Did I also mention it’s really boring?  My brain likes to see progress, so my batch groups stayed small.  Continue reading

Nuffle Amorical Football: The Miasma of Debauchery Part 1

Back in another lifetime it seems I put together a Blood Bowl Team emulating the Cleveland Browns.  The idea got me thinking of continuing the trend of blending Amorical (American) Football teams into the game of Blood Bowl.  I’m not going to lie I probably (most certainly) own enough teams to do a full 32 team league, but alas I don’t paint fast enough to have enough lifetime to get to that goal.  The original goal was to plow through the AFC North Division first, but instead I drifted over to the AFC East and put together a lovely Chaos Chosen team.  Continue reading

Rise From Your Grave: Resurrecting an Old Classic

img_4085-1

I have a long history of incomplete hobby projects.  My usual method of operation is getting excited to start a project, buy all the models to make it happen, start the hobby part of the project, add to the project to make it larger than the original scope, get burned out on the project, and then move on to the next project with the original unfinished. With Blood Bowl being my main hobby project, it’s no surprise that almost half of my teams are incomplete to one level or another.  With the prospects of a retro Blood Bowl event in 2024, I figured now was the time to wrap up my longest unfinished project.

Blood Bowl: The Wizards

In my games of DungeonBowl, I’ve pretty much made it the norm for each team to have a College Wizard for free. They’re all the same cost, at 100K, so it balances out. Plus, it helps further separate DB from BB proper with each team having a Wizard-Coach. I picked up the Collegiate Arcane – Mystic Battle Wizards box as it comes with enough bits to make four wizard models of multiple college types.

Blitz Bowl: The Nobility Team

Cruising through my painting queue this year, I wrapped up models 149-154. So far, this is a banner year in painting. These six Nobility models sat primed in storage for a good long while until I could settle on a theme. I’m envisioning this set from the Border Princess region maybe and with a bit of a Spanish flair.

Dungeon Bowl: Dressing

One of my goals for 2023 is to paint up all the dungeon dressing for the base box of Dungeon Bowl. Last post I showed off some doorways from the classic Warhammer Quest and above we have the WHQ minotaur immortalized in bronze. I felt it fitting to have him as the center of a dungeon’s maze, but I was also able to knock out everything else for my Dungeon Bowl set.

Blood Bowl: The Human Team

I’ve had the BB2016 release of the human team kicking around assembled and primed since 2018. Recently acquiring some spare hailings and a chainsaw player, I figured it was time to finally paint this lot. Well, we’ve also got a new league season kicking off shortly and that’s always a great motivator in getting a team painted.
