So despite how it seems I actually did ‘finish’ this project the month after my last update. ‘Finishing’ this project actually started the beginning of a very productive time that saw me shy away from posting in favor of feverishly working on hobby projects like a mad scientist.  That lasted until the world ended in 2020 and now I’m a year behind schedule on getting updates published.  Anyhow, enough of my rambling and on to the near end of this never ending project!

Kickstarter Round Up: The month of May assaults my wallet, leaves no prisoners!

Being stuck overseas and in austere environments means I am not able to accomplish much hobby work.  Thankfully though, the internet enables me to stay connected to all the nice new minis in the works and the generous tax break of being in a combat zone means I’ve got plenty of greenbacks piling up.  What better outlet to unclutter my wallet than a stroll through the Fantasy Football market on Kickstarter.  Two projects have jumped out and waylaid my savings, promising me piles of models to rummage through when I finally come home. A Tale of Blood Bowl, Frogs, and a Guy Named J_Bone

Once upon a time, there was a guy on the interwebs named J_Bone. J_Bone liked a website called Talk Fantasy Football. One day, he had an idea to produce a line of miniatures for an under-served Blood Bowl team… Slann. The Slann team was added to the game post 3rd through 5th edition, after Games Workshop had stopped supporting the game. As a result, there were never any official Slann Blood Bowl minis. Over the years, a couple of third party companies released some nice Slann teams, but J_Bone decided he wanted a team sculpted by one of the best independent sculptors on the Blood Bowl scene, Pedro Ramos.

I’ve always theorized that crowd funding attacks in waves.  Just when you swear off pledging money for a product that hopefully arrives in the distant future, your eyeballs are assailed with ripe new products looking to syphon your hard earned paycheck.  Just last year I was loudly proclaiming my independence from the crowd funding racket.  Alas, starting with Iron Golems it appears that the cycle has begun anew!   This time around instead of another potential mound of unpainted models, we have an offering that appeals to the spirit of Fantasy Football and maybe even lets the wallet off a bit easy this time.
