Blood Bowl: Elves v Dwarfs

Recently, I’ve found myself in the position of teaching the king of all games, Blood Bowl, to new gamers. I thought this period was behind me and that I had moved on to Blitz Bowl and the occasional Blood Bowl tournament. Well, it turns out Blitz Bowl is an intriguing step onto the pitches of the Blood Bowl universe for new coaches. I have my full orc team for me to take to tourneys, but nothing to loan new players to learn the game with. What teams should I provide?

Under the Brush: Cleavedhead Barrows pt. 6 – Penalty Flag on the Final Drive!

ClevelandBrownsElf

So despite how it seems I actually did ‘finish’ this project the month after my last update. ‘Finishing’ this project actually started the beginning of a very productive time that saw me shy away from posting in favor of feverishly working on hobby projects like a mad scientist.  That lasted until the world ended in 2020 and now I’m a year behind schedule on getting updates published.  Anyhow, enough of my rambling and on to the near end of this never ending project!

Under the Brush: Tale of Tuesday Cleavedhead Barrows pt. 5

ClevelandBrownsElfIts been an unprecedented flurry of painting these past few months.  Its mostly out of fear up my new schedule that is about to start completing crushing what little free time I have.  Fear is apparently a good motivator as it has enabled me to keep up with the Tale of Tuesdays posts to get this extended project closer to the finish line!

Under the Brush: Cleavedhead Barrows pt 4 for Tale of Tuesdays

ClevelandBrownsElf

Hard to believe that this project is still a work in progress.  After decreeing that it would be completed by the end of 2017 it is still trucking along.  In all fairness I had to move and leave the country for a bit which made painting impossible for a good chunk of time.  Upon my return I’ve been in an out of school and my work tempo has been through the roof.  Still, I try to work on the project when time allows and keeping with the Tale of Tuesdays Blood Bowl challenge, I thought I would provide an update of my progress. GAMAReveals-Mar11-BBHalflingsMinis5scfThe GAMA trade show has finally brought us some much anticipated Blood Bowl news, and boy was it a surprise to some!  Speculation had run the gambit on the next team to see the light of day and personally I will admit that I was surprised.  The crew of WSTZ discusses the design of the new diminutive team and Jeff works his wizardry to translate this team onto the Blitz Bowl circuit!

Homemade Star Players: Harry Badsaw

Greenskins_Wurrzag

I haven’t regularly used Star Players in league or tournament play in a very long time.  Back in the original 3rd edition rules Star Players where much cheaper than they currently are so it was quite common to see them in play.  When I attended the first Blood Bowl Tournament at GW Nottingham it was a staple to see all the big names on just about every team at the tournament.  In fact my Chaos Dwarf team rocked Hthark The Unstoppable through it’s first several tournaments.  I’m pretty sure every Undead team I played against had Count Luthor and every human team had Griff.  They were so cheap it would have been ridiculous not to use them.  A few iterations of rules later and taking those guys now is a huge commitment so its rare to see such big names on the field.  Some tournaments though have adopted homemade heroes which has given me the opportunity to create some of my own Blood Bowl Stars.  Continue reading

Off the Beaten Pitch: Fanath Chaos Chosen Team Review

Fanath Chaos Choen Team

I’ve been aware of Fanath Arts for some time in the 3rd party Blood Bowl market.  While I had looked before at picking up their High Elf team I never pulled the trigger on it.  It was a decent design but it didn’t capture my full attention.  Well times have changed!  When Fanath offered a Chaos Chosen team on Indiegogo this past summer it grabbed my attention despite having just recently purchased a Chosen team months before.  So what was it that made me spend money on a second team of the same variety?
