Every September, the biggest Blood Bowl tournament in North America, and probably the Western Hemisphere, takes place in Chicago, Illinois. This year is the 20th anniversary of the event and the tournament organizer has themed it around the old-school Slann team of second edition fame. So, with space frogs as the tournament theme, they’re also the Legacy Team for anyone opting to participate in the Legacy Team project.

Blood Bowl: Sabretusk Coach

Despite the blog being more quiet than usual, I have been working on projects, so Wyrd Stones & Tackle Zones will have some new content over the coming weeks. For now, here’s a mini post on the coach for the Mourn Mountain Sabretusks.
Continue readingBlood Bowl: Mourn Mountain Sabretusks
Blog output is dry lately. I’ve been working on hobby projects, but work has been pretty hectic, and when I punch out I’ve been wanting to get away from a computer. The local Blood Bowl league is starting up a new season this week, so I made sure I had a new team kitted up. The Mourn Mountain Sabretusks
Continue readingSilver Bayonet: Bavarians

Initially, I wasn’t too interested in the Silver Bayonet, but I recently met some local gamers who were getting into it pretty heavily, so I figured why not do up a little unit and join in? Using the Victrix Bavarian models (with the Austrian unit list) I wanted the unit to have more of napoleonic army special unit look. The official models look more like generic gothic warband to me.
Continue readingDragon Rampant: Clan of Cyclopes

Another wave of Covid has rippled through the house, so figured it was time to jump on that second Dragon Rampant warband. I expected this one to take two days as well, but it took a little under four hours so went ahead and put paint to an Elheim warlock figure as well.
Continue readingThe Court of the King in Yellow – Warcry

Earlier in the year when I was airbrushing everything that wasn’t nailed down, I had a chance to blow through my Cypher Lords warband from the Warhammer Age of Sigmar game Warcry. These truly weird chaos cultish warband really pushed the idea of what a chaos twisted band of followers could look like. From the outside they could easily pass as a mystical band of martial artists with a fancy for elaborate headgear. Of all the warbands released the look of this warband I found the most intriguing. With their true allegiance in disguise, it leaves the age-old fear of what makes chaos the scariest, the Enemy Within! Brainstorming the idea was the easy part, next was to get that idea a color scheme.
Continue readingCitadel Dark Future Street Warrior Collection

Using the Zona Alfa rules for my Roswell ’98 project has given me reason to recollect, for a third time, all those great Alan Perry Citadel 20mm Dark Future post apocalyptic figures. So, where does my collection stand now and will I end up with a complete set?
Continue readingBlitz Bowl: The Dark Elf Team
The Dark Elf Blood Bowl team is one that I’ve achieved great highs with, but also terrible lows. I’ve taken them undefeated to the championship of Orclahoma (the largest single day BB tourney in the US), but have also gone winless and been abused in a league. The lowest low though was simply assembling the new GW plastic team for Blitz Bowl…this squad almost had me quit the hobby again.
Continue readingBlitz Bowl: The Wood Elf Team
Blitz Bowl doesn’t have an official Wood Elf team…but the upcoming Blitz Bowl Season 2 does! In anticipation I went ahead and traded a sprue of Dark Elves for Wood Elves with @caseyrog I don’t have history with Woodies across any GW game, but I knew which approach I would take with the team.
Blitz Bowl: Human and Orc Teams
At this point, I’ve played lots of Blitz Bowl. However, I’ve played very little with the actual humans and orcs. Being the standard default teams in every edition of Blood Bowl, I’ve painted plenty so I’ve sort of drug my feet on getting their BzB versions done. My minis rule is basically ‘Play it Painted’, so these teams have sat in their locker rooms for awhile. Now, they’re ready for the pitch.
