It’s hobby update time! I just realized I hadn’t shared anything about what I’m working on for our June Turn It Up to 11 miniatures painting challenge. Eleven miniatures that need to be painted … that coincidentally aligns with the starting roster for a Blood Bowl team. And it just so happens I’m starting up a new team for our league’s summer season. Some guys in the league were talking about playing goblins and vampires, so I decided to step off the beaten path and go for something a little different for me. Underworld denizens!
Since it was re-released last November, by all reports Blood Bowl has been selling very well for Games Workshop. Since Blood Bowl 2016 was announced, many people have voiced concerns that Games Workshop re-releasing the game would put many third party mini companies out of business. It would seem that those fears were unfounded, because new crowdfunding campaigns seem to pop up on an almost weekly basis. With so many new campaigns starting all the time, I thought it would be a good idea to start a running series with a monthly collection of current Blood Bowl related crowdfunding campaigns. I won’t go into as much detail in these round up pieces as I do when I write about a specific campaign that I am excited about, but I will write enough to keep readers as up to date on current campaigns as I can. September brings us no fewer than five crowdfunding campaigns, so let’s take a look at what all is available this month!
Our friends over at Willy Miniatures kindly sent us over a copy of their recent Kickstarter success, the Ratmen Team. It arrived all the way from Spain last Saturday and it has taken me all week to assemble, photograph and write up this review because there is a LOT inside this box. Let’s get on with it.
A few days ago, yet another box from Forge World showed up at the house. In the box was one FAT RAT in the form of Glart Smashrip. Glart is the newest Star Player for 6th edition Blood Bowl, and he makes for a pretty imposing rat on the pitch. His bulk adds some much needed muscle to the Skaven team.
Welcome to another thrilling episode of June Forge World Unboxings! Last time we looked at the new, and VERY large Hakflem Skuuttlespike. Today we will keep with the Skaven theme and look at the first of the team booster packs from Forge World.
My local Blood Bowl league is getting a bit of a reboot in its premiere season. This gives me a chance to ditch my crippled high elves in favor of something else. After taking a beating with the elves, I must admit I’m an elf failure, unable to score in four games, but I digress, I was feeling a bit dejected. I could fall back on my tried and true humans but wasn’t really feeling it or any other teams, really. Until I latched on to the idea of Chaos Pact or Chaos Renegades as Games Workshop calls them in the latest edition of Blood Bowl.
As you are probably aware, Forge World has recently put several new releases up for pre-order. Well, today I got a box in the mail, and that means it is time for more unboxings! I am going to do things a little different this time due to the amount of pieces that have come in. I will be posting a new unboxing every couple of days until I run out of new minis… and since I have another Forge World order arriving next week, that might take a while. First up is the Skaven Star Player, Hakflem Skuttlespike.
