One of the main things I like to be able to do when getting into a game is be able to provide all the bits necessary to host a few tables. By host I don’t mean to just have the bits available required to play, but to have tables that can immerse the players into the setting as much as possible. A game like Warhammer Underworlds doesn’t have a lot of the 3D features you see in the more traditional minis games as it’s pretty much a board game. However…there are blocked hexes and these can provide that little bit of dressing to represent models slinking about the ruins of the Mirrored City.

Warhammer Underworlds: Grand Alliance – Order
I recently knocked out three Order warbands for Warhammer Underworlds. The Farstriders, The Condemnors and The Chosen Axes. All three were a little on hold until I could replenish my green static grass supply. The grass came in, so the minis are done. Just in time to help build a little momentum here at the beginning of the New Year.
Under the Brush: Glorfindel on Asfaloth

Happy New Year! I hope you are all doing well and looking forward to another year of hobbies! I had intended to get this model done to be my last model for 2019, but things didn’t pan out that way, so now it has the honor of being my first model for 2020!
Warcry: Splintering Some Fangs

It’s been a while since my last post finishing up my wood elf team for Blood Bowl, I haven’t been idle, I’ve just been lousy about blogging. In the mean time I’ve painted up a warband of Warcry! Like the rest of my WSTZ compatriots I was smitten by the release of Warcry. Seeing all the warbands made especially for the setting of the Eight Points really got my blood pumping, but one in particular got my venom pumping.
Space Hulk: T’au Empire
Along with Blood Bowl, Space Hulk is one of the classic Games Workshop board games that nailed their rules about 30 years go. Though neither of these two are the pillars that support Games Workshop they have been steady workhorses that have yet to be bettered by modern game designs. Jervis Johnson and Richard Halliwell created two foundational titles that I still enjoy tremendously. The trick with Space Hulk for me though is…I never really liked the Terminators or the Imperium. In fact, the 40K gothic aesthetic as a whole doesn’t really do it for me. Enter…The T’au.
Under the Brush: Tale of Tuesdays Part 3

Well, even though I based up these three minis this weekend with time to spare for the Tale of Painters’ Tale of Tuesdays challenge, I forgot to take a nice photo of my minis. So here’s this one I shared with my buddies over the weekend from my work table. One catcher and two linemen. The lineman on the right got a slight conversion, an arm swap with a wardancer, just to give a little more variety to the pose.
Scandalous unpainted picture below!

Under the Brush: Tale of Tuesdays Wood Elves #2

I’m back again with the next installment of my wood elves for Tale of Painters’ Tale of Tuesdays Blood Bowl painting challenge. For my next three models I painted one each of the wood elf positionals. Catcher, thrower and wardancer. Continue reading
Pitch, Please: A Wood Elf Pitch Unboxing

Another wood elf related unboxing! Yesterday arrived my new wood elf Blood Bowl pitch from Games Workshop. Not a lot to say about the box, but there’s the front of it. More pics after the break.

Under the Brush: Wood Elves for Tale of Tuesdays

The day after I wrote my unboxing for the new Games Workshop Atherlorn Avengers kit, I started painting some minis for the Blood Bowl painting challenge put on by Tale of Painters. If you’ve seen my post on the Blood Bowl Community over on Facebook, I’ve been playing around a lot with Photoshop trying to nail down my team colors. While my Arsenal and Codillion Clarions color schemes got lots of likes, in the end I decided to go with a Celtic inspired theme. I felt this was both sporty and fit with the nature aesthetic I felt most wood elf teams would go for. Continue reading
