Per my last post, I’ve got a few mythical swords-for-hire painted up, but who’s gonna hire them? The Bandits is the first of my two buntais on deck to paint since I’ve got some games scheduled for nest weekend against my opponents Sohei. So, let’s see how this buntai turned out.
The core Ronin bluebook is based on historical gameplay, but there is a pdf resource on the Osprey website by the author Craig Woodfield that includes some fantastical creatures from Japanese lore that can optionally be included in games. I picked up a few that looked easy to paint, so went on a little side quest before painting up my buntais.
Well, this isn’t exactly a mountain village, but rural village is what I’m going for with my upcoming games of Ronin and mountain village is the category the buildings above are categorized as at Oshiro Models.
I’ve had the BB2016 release of the human team kicking around assembled and primed since 2018. Recently acquiring some spare hailings and a chainsaw player, I figured it was time to finally paint this lot. Well, we’ve also got a new league season kicking off shortly and that’s always a great motivator in getting a team painted.
Here’s the main antagonists of my little Roswell ’98 setting, the aliens that have come back 50 years after the ’48 “weather balloon” incident. A lot of angles I had bouncing around in my head to use “cult” style minis from two great 20mm lines solidified in this detachment.
Originally, I had only intended on painting up three factions for Battletech, but as I started reading into the lore, Comstar appealed and since these mechs are pretty easy to paint I figured…why not…what’s seven more models to the pile?
Back in Orctober I painted up a Black Orc Blitz Bowl team with the idea being that those six models could combine with the six models of my Orc Blitz Bowl team to be a 12 model strong College of Metal squad. Both Orc teams are black with white shoulder pads. Well, the College of Metal have a few other player options… Human Blitzers and Khorne Bloodseekers.
Here’s something a little different for WS&TZ. Barnes and Noble (one of the last, large North American book chains) recently ran a 50% off all boardgames sale. I went in looking for a second copy of the B&N exclusive Blitz Bowl: Ultimate Edition, but walked out with four boxes of Battletech.
Another brief post during the Holiday. I’m aware I’ve yet to post pictures of my Khorne Blood Bowl team, heck they’ve been painted since September, but with the Goff Rocker in the last post, I converted up a 40K Noise Marine to be the “coach” of my Khorne team. Maybe musician models aren’t the best to represent coaches, but they are fun and I wanted to find some way to incorporate them in my BB teams. For this guy, I might go back and trim the barrel and clip off the guitar, but I’ve had a suggestion that maybe it doubles as a t-shirt cannon. Ha! Works for me. Thoughts on using Goff Rockers and Noise Marines for BB?
While I was working on the Mournmountain Sabretusks ogre team for the local Blood Bowl league, I went ahead and tackled the Blitz Bowl version of the ogre team as well. However, instead of the same red, white, and blue colors, I went grey and yellow to maximize their gaming potential.
