The long delay in getting ’em painted was because they looked a chore to paint, and I wasn’t sure what color scheme I’d go with. Turns out they were pretty easy.

One of my goals for 2023 is to paint up all the dungeon dressing for the base box of Dungeon Bowl. Last post I showed off some doorways from the classic Warhammer Quest and above we have the WHQ minotaur immortalized in bronze. I felt it fitting to have him as the center of a dungeon’s maze, but I was also able to knock out everything else for my Dungeon Bowl set.

I’ve had the BB2016 release of the human team kicking around assembled and primed since 2018. Recently acquiring some spare hailings and a chainsaw player, I figured it was time to finally paint this lot. Here’s the main antagonists of my little Roswell ’98 setting, the aliens that have come back 50 years after the ’48 “weather balloon” incident. A lot of angles I had bouncing around in my head to use “cult” style minis from two great 20mm lines solidified in this detachment.

My Roswell ’98 project, post-apoc at 20mm, has provided the opportunity to use models for a variety of rulesets. Originally, it was designed for Gaslands and Zona Alpha. Having played Lion Rampant last summer, I became a big fan of Daniel Mersey’s rules, so with the release of his Xenos Rampant, many of my R’98 factions are going to get fleshed out a little more.

The excellent Blitz Bowl: Ultimate Edition brought two new pitches to the game. Following the use of coach dp36 in the Blitz Bowl Discord, one of the two matches up well with some of the spiked terrain from the Warcry Catacombs box.

Back in Orctober I painted up a Black Orc Blitz Bowl team with the idea being that those six models could combine with the six models of my Orc Blitz Bowl team to be a 12 model strong College of Metal squad. Both Orc teams are black with white shoulder pads. Well, the College of Metal have a few other player options… Human Blitzers and Khorne Bloodseekers.

My son has been wanting to try out the Lizardmen team for awhile, but I tend to lean on a pretty strict “Play it Painted” mentality, so we haven’t run this squad in our Blitz Bowl games. Additionally, I struggled a bit with what color scheme I wanted to go with. Finally, I decided, the heck with it, let’s get ’em done.
