Weird Stones & Tackle Zones was founded by Blood Bowl enthusiasts. Even though we’ve drifted back and forth through other titles, big BB news still gets us talking. And well…a brand new edition so short after the BB2016 relaunch is pretty big news. So what do our collection of old coaches think about the recently announced new version of the game? Step into our locker room…

Blitz Bowl: Statues and Tokens
I finally got around to completing all of the necessary terrain features for three Blitz Bowl boards as well as all of my team tokens.
Gaslands: Back into the Wasteland
Dark Future was one of the two Games Workshop titles that captured my imagination back in the late 80’s. My friend picked up a set while I bought Blood Bowl Second Edition from a small game shop in Kaiserslautern, (at the time ‘West’) Germany. If I remember correctly, the shop was called “Gerd’s” and we’d talk one of our parents to drive us there every couple months as both our father’s were stationed at a nearby US army base. Well before the internet, it was the only place we could find hobby games of this sort and the outfit from Great Britain quickly replaced TSR as our go-to company for gaming. I often wonder what become of that shop and it’s owner, but for now this tale is about how that middle school kid, now in his mid 40’s, found himself back out on the wasteland.
Underworlds: Display Base
Unfortunately, I don’t get out to many Warhammer Underworlds tournaments, but for games I really enjoyed, I’ve always liked have a little display base for my models. Nothing fancy, just something big enough for a warband or team’s worth of figs. Living in a smaller home, storage is an issue, so making and storing something like a display base has to take a few things into consideration. Namely… a low profile. Fortunately, a friend had a spare Arcane Ruins set which provided exactly what I needed.
The Shade-Crazed Gargant
Collector’s of White Dwarf were treated to a Warhammer: Underworlds variant in the magazine’s December 2018 issue. The Glass-Mad Gargant article introduced a fun multi-player scenario where the players battle not only against one another, but against a crazed denizen of the Mirrored City. I generally try to always ‘play it painted’, so haven’t run the scenario until I could get myself a Gargant. Well, now I have a giant…
Into The Nightvault
As a big fan of Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire I was pleased with the news last year of a second Underworld location….the Nightvault. Not an entirely unique locale the Nightvault is deep within the heart of the Mirrored City, Shadespire. More importantly though…more warbands!
Underworld Denizens … finally complete

I put the finishing touches on my underworld denizens team this weekend by putting the number transfers on the team. To celebrate I took some new pics, so here’s a massive photo dump (after the break)!
The Case for the Perfect Case: Part 2 – Pick and Pluck your Battles

Earlier this year I picked up some hardcover cases with pluck foam from Sam’s Club and did a little review-ish thing. I decided to return the cases to the store, because really they were much too big. I wanted something I could fit inside a backpack along with my rules manuals, dice, etc. Not feel like I was using carry-on luggage every time I went to play some games. In the end I decided to buy the Citadel Skirmish Case, which I’ve liked quite a bit. You can fit a lot of minis in there and it fits in a backpack. However with two Blood Bowl teams (with 4 big guys among them!) and then with my Middle-earth Strategy Battle Games minis, things started to get a bit crowded. I also didn’t feel like hauling around the bulk of my miniatures collection all the time, too many eggs in one basket.
I started researching the Kill Team Case Games Workshop produced when Kill Team was announced. It’s basically the one of the accordion foam trays in the Skirmish Case but in a zippered case. In a Facebook thread about the product, people mentioned they didn’t like how soft the foam exterior was, and one guy mentioned picked up a little case from Harbor Freight for $15. Fast forward a couple months and I’ve picked one up myself.
NOVA Open News Roundtable Redux
Didn’t we just go over a bunch of juicy news and previews? Oh wait that was over a week ago. Still, a week?! Slow down, GW, we can’t keep up! Alright, guys lets gather back ’round the round table to go over what was shown off.
Under the Brush: Underworld Denizens
It’s hobby update time! I just realized I hadn’t shared anything about what I’m working on for our June Turn It Up to 11 miniatures painting challenge. Eleven miniatures that need to be painted … that coincidentally aligns with the starting roster for a Blood Bowl team. And it just so happens I’m starting up a new team for our league’s summer season. Some guys in the league were talking about playing goblins and vampires, so I decided to step off the beaten path and go for something a little different for me. Underworld denizens!
